The 'Ammo' Series Captures the Terrifying Innards of Bullets

VIDEO
Revealing the innards of sleek and terrifying bullets, artist Sabine Pearlman created a collection of portraits called the 'Ammo' series. The photo project consists of a series of shots that capture the insides of bullets. Stripped of their metal shells, each bullet was bisected in order to reveal the gritty and violent mechanics contained within. Every part of the bullet, from the gun powder to the bits of metallic death hidden inside, was revealed.

Pearlman captured over 900 stunning bullet cross-sections in her quest to examine the injury-inducing objects. Each photo looks at the beautiful symmetry contained in what could previously be used as part of a death machine. According to the artist, she wanted to capture a "hidden complexity and beauty of form, which stands in vast contrast to the destructive purpose of the object."
