Primary weapons of special forces, is weapons used during missions and actions and it depends on type of mission and needs to use weapons on short or long distance. In modern warfare, where is much more terrorist attacks, hostage takers and much more needs for using special forces, no matter police or military special forces, they need to have the best weapons to engage enemy. One of the most important things for one special forces member is his equipement.

SWAT, and police special forces memebers, in most case fo their primary weapons choose submachine gun from Heckler & Koch MP5 model. MP5 feeds with 9mm caliber cartridges. This model from Heckler & Koch is one of the most famous submachine guns in world, and also one of most deadliest. His attributes are almost no recoil, his dimension, MP5 is ideal for using in small areas. It is weapon with extreme accuracy. Advantage of rifles used by police is in accuracy, light weight, small dimensions which makes weapons easy to operate in buildings, houses, flats and small areas. There are some disadvantages like small caliber with short distance of effective use, but it isn’t so valuable in police duties because most of police shooting is performed in 3-5 meters range from target.

In combat, American special forces, which served in Afghanistan, Iraq and all accross globe where it is neccesary usually used modificated version of army standard assault rifle M16, named M4 carabine. M4 carabine is light version of M16 rifle, with some improvements and smaller dimensions with ability of installing some gear on it, which is allowed by picatinny rail. This rifle uses standard NATO 5.56mm caliber. Military special forces uses this type of assault rifles with smaller dimensions because, they can use it on longer and shorter ranges, on urban terrain, which is instructed with modern warfare. In 2010, on firearms market appeared a new assault rifle named SCAR from belgian FN factory. That assault rifle in short time become a favorite gun for special forces members like ones from Navy SEALs, Green Berets and some other special forces.
