Most Ridiculous Anti Gun Quotes From Anti Gun Politicians (Prepare to Laugh…Then Cry) [VIDEO]

I keep hearing the argument from anti gunners that pro gun supporters don’t want to have a conversation about guns. Well, that’s because most of you don’t know what you’re talking about. It’s extremely hard to have a rational debate with someone who doesn’t understand the basic issue at hand.
You’ll laugh, and then you’ll certainly cry when you realize that these people keep getting elected time and time again.

NY Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy

We’ll start off with a classic. Vehemently anti gun NY Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy apparently didn’t even understand what her proposed 2007 assault weapons ban would actually ban. Included in the list of military features that would be banned was barrel shrouds. For those not in the know a barrel shroud is just a covering on the barrel that protects the shooter’s hands when the barrel gets hot.
Carolyn thought it was something else.
Carolyn McCarthy is still a United States Congresswoman.
Kudos to the interviewer for calling her out on the discrepancy.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg

Next let’s look one of our favorite anti gunners, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg.

Let’s watch the video and then address the points.
Oh Michael. First off the so called ‘assault weapons’ you want to ban are not fully automatic as you describe. They might look like fully automatic military counterparts, but almost all civilian weapons are semi-automatic – you have to pull the trigger for every round fired. Fully automatic weapons are legal for civilian ownership, but it requires special approval from the ATF and those weapons cost in the tens of thousands of dollars on average. Also, full auto firearms made after 1986 are illegal, making them even more rare. AUTOMATIC weapons are already basically illegal for your average gun owner based on availability and cost of ownership.
Next, the mayor keeps bringing up hunting. Mr. Mayor, I am not a hunter. I own semi automatic rifles because they are the most effective weapon available to defend my family in situations of civil unrest, riots or against multiple home invaders. I also use them for target shooting and competition (yes, many competitions use AR15′s).
Also, the mayor seems to think that handguns are OK based on his comments in this interview, but he has basically banned the carry of handguns by law abiding citizens for self defense in his city. Of course the NYC criminal element has no trouble completely ignoring these restrictions.

Representative Diana DeGette

Next up lets look at a long time Congresswoman and a Chief Deputy Whip in the US House of Represenatives. Diana DeGette has been a Colorado Congresswoman since 1997 and has rallied hard in that time for strict gun control. You would think in over a decade of pushing gun control the Congresswoman would have learned the basics of how guns worked and what exactly it was that she was trying to ban. However, you would be wrong.
In the following video, DeGette seems to think that gun magazines can only be used once. She clearly makes this point by saying that banning the future sale of standard capacity gun magazines will result in them being used up by the current owners and no longer available. She also calls magazines ammunition and bullets.
DeGette was quickly ripped for the comment by many gun websites, bloggers, and video bloggers such as NRA commentator Colion Noir. See his response video below.

Senator Dianne Feinstein

Feinstein, the senior Democratic Senator from California has quite a few remarks through her long political career that could make it into this list, but we’ll just include one of her most recent ones.

Let’s watch the video first.
“The time has come, America, to step up and ban these weapons,” Feinstein said. “The other very important part of this bill is to ban large capacity ammunition feeding devices — those that hold more than 10 rounds. We have federal regulations and state laws that prohibit hunting ducks with more than three rounds. And yet it’s legal to hunt humans with 15-round, 30-round, even 150-round magazines. Limiting magazine capacity is critical, because it is when a criminal, a drug dealer, a deranged individual has to pause to change magazines and reload that, the police or brave bystanders have the opportunity to take that individual down.”
First off, and I’m not a lawyer by any means, but I’m pretty sure that we do in fact have some laws on the books making murder illegal. Maybe Feinstein has a private island where she hunts people (with 10 round magazines of course), I don’t know.

Colorado state Rep. Joe Salazar

Democratic Colorado state Rep. Joe Salazar said, “It’s why we have call boxes, it’s why we have safe zones, it’s why we have the whistles. Because you just don’t know who you’re gonna be shooting at. And you don’t know if you feel like you’re gonna be raped, or if you feel like someone’s been following you around or if you feel like you’re in trouble when you may actually not be, that you pop out that gun and you pop … pop around at somebody.”
Salazar later apologized saying, “I’m sorry if I offended anyone. That was absolutely not my intention.”
Note, he didn’t actually apologize for his sexist, inaccurate comments, just that he was sorry if he offended anyone.

Vice President Joe Biden

Oh Joe. Joe Biden says a lot of things about gun control. So many in fact that we’ve given Joe his own category here on the site.
Biden acknowledges “assault weapons” aren’t really used in crime, but “we need to do something”, so we should ban them.
He apparently really likes double barreled shotguns. He even encourages people to fire them into the air and through their front door for self defense.
Oh yeah, and there’s this, which makes us smile.
