Chicago is Forced to End 45 Year Gun Registry and Rahm Emanuel is Not Happy About It

For the last 45 years gun owners in Chicago had to register their weapons with the city in order to keep from breaking the law.   Now that Illinois has a concealed carry law that registry will have to be abolished.
According to the Reuters article,
The city council voted to end the gun registry in place since 1968 to comply with court rulings against Chicago and

Illinois gun control laws, and to bring the city into line with a state concealed carry law.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel was not pleased with the court’s decision saying, “I happen to think the court’s wrong. I think their interpretation is wrong.”.

While the Reuters article seems to blame the “powerful NRA” for this decision along with the successful recall of 2 anti-gun Colorado senators one day ago, it should be clear to all logically thinking people that it’s really the law abiding gun owner that is responsible, along with the 2nd amendment that is an inconvenient truth to many anti-gunners.

So the Chicago firearm registration which has been in place since 1968 is gone.  In December 2012, the appeals court ruled that Illinois’s ban on concealed carry was unconstitutional (which we all knew all along) and gave the state six months to make a law allowing firearms to be carried in public.
In July of this year Illinois passed a concealed carry law which gave the control of gun regulations back to the state and out of Chicago’s hands.  This completely nullified the windy city’s firearm registration which also required each firearm owner in Chicago to have a firearm permit.  That’s right.  Chicago gun owners will also not have to obtain gun permits going forward.
This is a big win for the 2nd amendment and a big win for Chicago, which has historically discouraged firearm ownership of law abiding citizens, while still blaming them for the gun violence of the criminals.
