[VIDEO] Missouri Man Tries to Stick Up Store Clerk Who Happened to Be an Iraq War Vet

crook gets gun to face after trying to rob store
In yet another example of how gun-carrying citizens can stop crime, one Missouri man found out the hard way that he picked the wrong place to rob.
The store clerk was not only a man prepared to use his his firearm, he was also a 4-time-deployed Iraq War vet with 30 years in the military.  Some of the other things on his resume included some time as a prison guard and private investigator.
Surveillance footage shows the crook in the Missouri store hesitating before he tries to pull a firearm from his side.  But before the thug could go any further, 54-year-old Jon Lewis Alexander put out his arm and stopped him.  Alexander then pulled out his own firearm (a Walther PPX 9 mm handgun) and put it in the crook’s face.

No shots were fired and no one was hurt in the incident.  According to News-leader.com the store clerk said that had he seen the barrel of the thief’s gun he would have shot him.
“One of the policemen told me later, ‘You’re a lucky man,’ ” Alexander said Monday. “I said, ‘I think he (the robber) is a little luckier than I am.’ ”
He also said that his life wasn’t threatened and that’s why he didn’t pull the trigger.
When the thief first walked in he was smoking a cigarette.  Alexander told him to put it out because it was against the store policy.  Then the crook went up to the counter and while pulling out his gun shouted some expletives demanding money from the register.
Alexander said the thief didn’t even bother holstering his weapon as he left the store in quite a hurry.
Alexander has some expletives of his own as he put his gun in the thief’s mouth and threatened to blow his head off.
He didn’t bother telling his wife for a few days because he didn’t want her to worry, but when she saw the surveillance video on her own it took her some time to calm down.  But it’s probably the crook that needed longer to calm down after almost having his brains blown out.
Asked about Alexander’s actions, Max Dawson (store owner) said, “I think it’s a great thing,” explaining that in this particular situation Alexander took actions that appeared safe. However, Dawson said he’s been a victim of burglary so many times in four years that he believes bad guys deserve to be shot. “I think they all ought to be put away — permanently.
